Before introducing myself, let me share with you the purpose of this blog.   Leadership Reflections is a discussion about the practice of leadership: personal, team, and organizational.  I am very interested in applying Christian faith to leadership practices and how being part of a community of faith affects the way we lead Christian ministries.  (You can read about my journey to Christian faith here.)

Part of my work responsibility is to develop material to help ministries with leadership and governance issues.  So, I’ll test ideas out here and get your reactions.  I’ll share what I am learning here as well.  I  hope that together we will grow to become great Christian leaders.

How often should you look for new posts from me?  I try to write one post a week, and usually post it on the weekend.  However:

  • I won’t publish a post unless I really have something to say that I think you will find valuable or at least interesting food for thought.
  • Sometimes an idea for a weekly post takes a lot longer than I expect to be processed into a worthy leadership reflection, so it might take an extra week if I have nothing else to write about in the meantime.
  • At other times, life or work gets in the way and I just don’t have time to write a post.  In that case, I’ll post as soon as I can.

If you’d like to minimize the time it takes to monitor posts on this blog, there is a button at the top right of the page “Subscribe to feeds” that will automatically send you a new post.  This is the easiest way to find out about a new post.  Otherwise, if you check in on Mondays, you’ll usually find something new.

Now about me

I joined the Canadian Council of Christian Charities in September 2003 and became Chief Executive Officer a few weeks later.  CCCC is an association of 3,000 Christian ministries that provides assistance for their support and leadership functions including advice, training, and services such as group benefits and pension plans.

The Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada ordained me into Christian ministry in 2007.  I have served as a pastor, but my primary call (with the support of the PAOC) is to serve the broader church.

I’m something of a professional student.  I love to learn!  Over the years I have earned several degrees:

B.B.A. Bachelor of Business Administration. 1980.
Wilfrid Laurier University.

M.B.A. Master of Business Administration. 1985.

M.Div. Master of Divinity (Biblical Studies & Spiritual Formation). 2004.
Tyndale Seminary.

D.Min. Doctor of Ministry (Christian Leadership). 2008.
Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary.
