Course Description

Completing this course will provide new charity employees, fundraising teams, pastors and board members with foundational knowledge and practical skills to be able to receipt common donations properly. Attention is given to practical aspects of receipting to help organizations navigate receipting situations without error. The course uses common receipting situations faced by charities and provides practical guidance for receipting practices to help staff avoid common issues and improper receipting that can draw CRA attention.

What’s Inside:

  1. Understand the foundational rules, laws and principles related to proper receipting
  2. Apply the receipting rule in common fundraising situations, including preparing proper receipts for cash gifts as well as non-cash gifts
  3. Properly apply the split-receipting rules, including issues relating to valuation of gifts and fair market value
  4. Prepare your organization for receipting, including the development of a receipting guide
  5. Provide input on organizational policies and practices concerning receipting
  6. Manage receipting questions, including difficult conversations with donors
