GST/HST

A tax called the Goods and Services Tax (GST) is imposed on goods and services consumed in Canada. Some provinces have adopted a combined tax called the Harmonized Sales Tax (HST). On July 1, 2010, Ontario and British Columbia (BC) adopted the HST at the rate of 13% and 12% respectively; however, on April 1, 2013, BC reverted back to 5% GST and 7% PST.

Supplies of goods and services made by charities are generally exempted from this general consumption tax rule, but there are some exceptions.
