The board and staff need to be assured that the organization as a whole is fulfilling its mission. The charity’s mission statement, therefore, forms the backbone of an organizational evaluation. Far more than a marketing tool, a mission statement makes claims about what the ministry is working to change. It needs to be supported by a theory of change, which links the mission to the activities of the ministry. The result of a theory of change is a logic model that can be evaluated to determine an organization’s health and mission accomplishment.
