Short-term Missions

Short-term missions have become a popular way to fulfill a charity’s objects and purposes. Many charities mobilize individuals locally or internationally to focus on a specific mandate (e.g., building schools, providing medical care) in order to complete their integral mission of advancing the gospel. Short-term mission trips can range from one week up to three years and may consist of a few individuals or a large team.

Prior to considering short-term missions, a charity should consider some fundamental issues, such as

  • administration (receipting);
  • financial management (designated giving);
  • capital projects;
  • risk management (liability);
  • volunteer management (debriefing).
