Government giveaways? Well, sort of. Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) is requesting information from charitable organizations across Canada that are interested in potentially receiving donations of government surplus.

PSPC is collecting information as a first step in exploring new ways to communicate with charities and understanding their material needs.

This Request for Information (RFI) will not result in the award of any contract, and whether or not the organization responds to the RFI will not preclude the organization from receiving future donations. The intention is to solicit feedback, and the information gathered may or may not be used in an Invitation to Qualify (i.e. apply for the potential donations) at a future date.

The RFI Questionnaire asks:

what types of items your charity is interested in receiving

whether donated items would be resold or donated again

what communities/individuals your organization serves

whether you can pick-up and transport the donations

whether you can provide auditable records on donations made by your organization.

An explanation of the RFI can be found here, and the Questionnaire can be found here. The deadline to respond to the Questionnaire is August 30, 2019.
