Bill Ball, Executive Director, Slavic Gospel Association of Canada

Slavic Gospel Association has been ministering to Slavic people since 1934. Peter Deyneka left the small village of Staramlynia, Belarus after encouragement from his parents in 1914. At 16 years of age he climbed on a train, then a ship, both of which he had never seen before in his life, and traveled to America in search of resources. His family was starving.

Not only did he provide for his immediate family, but began a mission that has reached across what we refer to as the Commonwealth of Independent States. We now partner with faithful servants in nearly 15 nations, reaching out to people in local communities.

Today our focus includes:

Missionary Pastors

Orphan’s Ministry

Transitional Orphans’ Homes

Camp Ministry

Youth Ministry

Rehab Centres

Theological Training

and a special Christmas program called Immanuel’s Child

As a faith based mission we rely solely upon the generous gifts of individuals, churches and foundations to meet the needs of troubled humanity.

Vladimir Savich lives in the Volyn Region of northwest Ukraine. SGA Canada has supported the Savich family since 2003. Not only does he serve as a local pastor, with his wife and 7 children, but has an extensive Compassion ministry in many villages. Every day they face impossible situations humanly speaking.

More recently war between Russia and Ukraine has created another humanitarian disaster. Since February 2014, 1.5 million Ukrainians have fled the country. Another 1.75 million are internally displaced and over 10,000 have died. This has had a profound effect in every part of the country.

Vladimir does what he can to bring comfort and care to hurting people such as:

Tatiana

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" members who live in the village told us about the family and suggested for us to help the family. The family is experiencing hard times. The husband left the wife with four little children. The children go to a kindergarten and to school. The mother can’t get a job as it’s a real problem now and because of that she can hardly earn the family living and feed her children. Tatiana was very happy and thankful when we came to see her.

Lilya

<div id="attachment_24230" style="width: 275px" class="wp-caption The father left the family. Lilya is a disabled person. She takes care of six daughters. When the youngest daughter had heart problems, we helped them to pay for a heart surgery. Now the family got into new trouble: their second daughter was in a car accident. Doctors didn’t have any hope for life, but praise god, according to the church’s prayers, God showed His amazing mercy.

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" titanium plate has to be inserted in her skull, therefore the crushed part of the bone (about 7-8 cm) was removed.

We are humbled and grateful by the faithfulness of compassionate Canadians. All across our nation we meet people from every walk of life who assist us in providing for those in great need. Our privilege is to visit communities on both sides of the ocean linking distress with provision.

Realizing we cannot meet every request, it is a privilege to partner with many other ministries of similar vision and passion. Together we witness an entire movement making a difference, sharing the love of God in most practical terms. We do all this with excellence.

<img
