He spent more than half a century making the Gospel accessible in people\u2019s homes and lives.<\/p>\n<p>As host of the Christian talk show <em>100 Huntley Street<\/em>, which launched in 1977, he served alongside his wife, Norma-Jean, who at the time produced the live, daily, 90-minute telecast.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>On His Knees, Praying<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>According to Crossroads, \u201cIt was David\u2019s idea to have 24\/7 telephone prayer lines staffed by volunteers to offer support to viewers.\u201d Since 1989, Crossroads Christian Communications Inc. has adhered to the CCCC Standards of Organizational Accountability and Integrity.<\/p>\n<p>John Pellowe remembers fondly an encounter with David in the early 1980s. The family of John\u2019s wife, Loron, formed a bluegrass Gospel band, and they were set to perform on <em>100 Huntley Street<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHours before filming,\u201d John shares, \u201cI was walking down a deserted hallway towards the studio, and I heard a bold, loud voice praying in tongues and English for the show.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The voice was David\u2019s. \u201cWhat impressed me,\u201d John continues, \u201cwas that when the halls were empty, when there were no cameras, there David was\u2014on his knees, praying.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Speaking of his integrity, John remembers, \u201cHe was rock solid, willing to be in accountability relationships such as the one his ministry had with the Canadian Council of Christian Charities Certification program.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Integrity at Every Step<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-26289\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cccc.org\/news_blogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/Mainse-CCCC-Integrity-Award-2008-1-130x300.jpg\" alt=\"Award presented to David Mainse by CCCC\" width=\"130\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.cccc.org\/news_blogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/Mainse-CCCC-Integrity-Award-2008-1-130x300.jpg 130w, https:\/\/www.cccc.org\/news_blogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/Mainse-CCCC-Integrity-Award-2008-1.jpg 160w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 130px) 100vw, 130px\" \/>A ministry in which John and Loron were personally involved, Seeds International, was to be featured on <em>100 Huntley Street<\/em>, in a fundraising segment of the show. John was impressed that before the television program agreed to feature Seeds, it examined the ministry\u2019s trustworthiness.<\/p>\n<p>To honour <em>100 Huntley <\/em>viewers, donors, and the recipients of donations, internal auditors from Crossroads Christian Communications worked to ensure that funds raised were used appropriately.<\/p>\n<p>John recalls their \u201ccommitment to integrity at every step in the chain.\u201d Such integrity was reflected throughout David\u2019s life.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Everything Minus Integrity Equals Nothing<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In 2008, CCCC presented to David an award in appreciation of a lifetime of personal and ministry integrity.<\/p>\n<p>At the ceremony, David\u2019s \u201cE-I=0\u201d formula was shared: \u201cEverything minus integrity equals nothing.\u201d\u00a0 David\u2019s integrity as a husband, father, and ministry leader has produced much fruit.<\/p>\n<p>David\u2019s integrity can be attributed, at least partially, to four of his traits: servanthood, righteousness, humility, and openhandedness.<\/p>\n<p>Being a servant, David allowed the Lord to lead, following God\u2019s plans and trusting Him to provide. David knew that results come by the Holy Spirit\u2019s work, not his own.<\/p>\n<p>David\u2019s call to evangelism and to building up the entire Church led to a generous openhandedness and a win\/win attitude.\u00a0 He wanted his supporters to remain faithful to their own local churches, saying that God\u2019s main address on Earth is the local church.<\/p>\n<p>We praise God for what He has done through His servant, David Mainse.<\/p>\n<p><strong>As of September 2017, <em>100 Huntley Street<\/em> <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>has had more than 10,300 broadcasts;<\/li>\n<li>has featured more than 16,000 guests;<\/li>\n<li>has processed more than 11 million telephone calls from people seeking prayer;<\/li>\n<li>has an on-air average weekly reach of more than 1.3 million Canadian viewers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>(<em>source: <\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.crossroads.ca\/david-mainse-biography\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Crossroads Communications<\/a>)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cDavid was a pioneer for evangelical ministry\u2014he was a visionary,\u201d remembers John Pellowe, CEO of Canadian Council of Christian Charities (CCCC).
