For background on the troubling Ontario court decisions that inspired this bill, see my pieces published in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.convivium.ca\/articles\/stigma-and-shame\/\">Convivium<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/nationalpost.com\/opinion\/with-ontario-courts-ruling-on-doctors-the-revolution-continues\">the National Post<\/a>. Attached, you may also read a letter sent to all Alberta MLAs regarding the Bill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Although a committee voted against Bill 207 continuing to Second Reading, the motion is not binding; it is only a recommendation. The Bill was&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.assembly.ab.ca\/net\/index.aspx?p=bills_status&amp;selectbill=207&amp;legl=30&amp;session=1\" target=\"_blank\">reported to the Assembly<\/a>&nbsp;Tuesday afternoon, and according to the&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.assembly.ab.ca\/ISYS\/LADDAR_files\/docs\/hansards\/han\/legislature_30\/session_1\/20191126_1330_01_han.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Hansard for the report<\/a>, it will proceed to a <strong>debate<\/strong> on a motion for concurrence with the Committee recommendation. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.assembly.ab.ca\/net\/index.aspx?p=op&amp;section=doc&amp;fid=3\">Order Papers<\/a> indicate that MLAs will have an opportunity to speak to Bill 207 on <strong>Monday, December 2.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Please consider sending an email or making a phone call to your MLA (contact info <a href=\"http:\/\/www.assembly.ab.ca\/net\/index.aspx?p=mla_report&amp;memPhoto=True&amp;alphaboth=True&amp;alphaindex=True&amp;build=y&amp;caucus=All&amp;conoffice=True&amp;legoffice=True&amp;mememail=True\">here<\/a>) to express your support for the bill.
