The changes are in response to COVID-19, and the current economic challenge facing young Canadians looking for jobs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"608\" height=\"490\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cccc.org\/news_blogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/20200408-CSJ-2020.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-28953\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.cccc.org\/news_blogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/20200408-CSJ-2020.png 608w, https:\/\/www.cccc.org\/news_blogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/20200408-CSJ-2020-300x242.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 608px) 100vw, 608px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The temporary changes include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>An increase to the wage subsidy \u2013<strong> up to 100 per cent <\/strong>of the provincial or territorial minimum hourly wage for each employee<\/li><li>An <strong>extension <\/strong>to the end date for employment to <strong>February 28, 2021<\/strong><\/li><li>Allowing employers to<strong> adapt<\/strong> projects and jobs to support <strong>essential services<\/strong><\/li><li>Allowing employers to hire staff on a <strong>part-time basis<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Even though CSJ applications closed on February 28, 2020 the government has committed to working with Members of Parliament to \u201cidentify organizations that provide essential services in the community and could provide youth jobs but did not apply for the Canada Summer Jobs program in 2020.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is currently $263 million in funding for CSJ 2020, intended to create up to 70,000 jobs.
