The 2024 call for applications to join the Advisory Committee on the Charitable Sector<\/a> (ACCS) is open.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maybe you didn\u2019t get an opportunity to apply during past calls or you wanted more time to think about it. Now\u2019s your chance!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We know that you – our members – have valuable experience that can help shape the charitable sector\u2019s future in a positive way. We know you\u2019re experienced, passionate, and understand what works and what doesn\u2019t. And we know that many of you have a unique and valuable perspective because of who you serve, where you serve and how you serve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The CRA wants to hear from diverse perspectives in the charitable sector and encourages applications from a broad cross-section of experts, practitioners and leaders. This is a key time to become involved! There are lots of calls for change within the sector and this is a chance for faith-based charities to speak into and shape that change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Really Important Information<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Volunteer sector members will be selected for a two-year term, starting in January 2025. Applications are due by September 27, 2024 at 11:59 pm EST.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The only option listed for applications is to use CRA\u2019s online career portal. If you don\u2019t have a \u201ccandidate profile\u201d with CRA you will need to create a profile<\/a>. Once your profile is set up, you have to search for the correct job requisition number, read the description, and complete the application online.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Applicants must be Canadian citizens, permanent residents or protected persons under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meetings are held approximately one to three times per month. Meetings are both virtual and in-person (in Ottawa) and are held during regular business hours. ACCS members are not compensated but are reimbursed for travel expenses for in-person meetings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Application Assessment<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

CRA lists five criteria by which applications are assessed:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Depth and breadth of expertise in charitable\/non-profit sector<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Knowledge of CRA\u2019s regulation of charities<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Ability to effectively communicate concrete measures to modernize charity regulation<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Depth and breadth of experience in consultative forums<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. Motivation to join and commitment to the objectives of the ACCS<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
