Clergy Residence Deduction - Religious Orders

This webcast deals with:

  • what the Tax Court of Canada has determined are the characteristics of indicative of being a religious order for tax purposes,
  • how the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) is interpreting this court ruling in audits,
  • ensuring the religious order has demonstrable evidence of its existence and proper functioning which it can provide to CRA in case of an audit, and
  • helpful hints about educating those who are members of a religious order as to what responsibilities and obligations religious order membership entails.

This webcast is of utmost importance for those individuals entrusted with the administration of their religious order, and, for those who rely on their religious order membership to meet either (or both) of the eligibility requirements for the clergy residence deduction (i.e. the “status test” and the “function test”).
