Are you aware that 87% of surveyed job seekers find organizations that practise mentoring to be "more attractive"? Or that 76% of hiring managers say mentorship is essential to reducing brain drain? Despite that, 66% of Canadian organizations still do not practise mentoring. This gap often leads to low employee retention and the loss of crucial institutional knowledge as retiring employees depart without any succession plan.
Mentorship is often overlooked as a method of professional development, though CCCC is looking to change that! We want to encourage Christian charities to explore the value of integrating mentorship practices with your team, and broadly across the charity sector. To do this, we have built some functionality into The Green to assist charity employees with finding valuable mentors to learn from. Some reasons you might use mentorship at your ministry are:
- To empower new employees as part of your organization’s onboarding package
- To spark inspiration for tenured employees who still have room to grow
- To equip professionals with the wisdom of others who are experienced in their job role
- To give mature or retiring leaders a place to share their wisdom and expertise
