Light in Our Work:
Advent Prayers from CCCC

This Advent season, our team at the Canadian Centre for Christian Charities is sharing a series of short weekly prayers inspired by the themes of Hope, Peace, Joy, Love, and Christ. Each prayer is a heartfelt expression from our team, offered as a small gift and a way to support the many Christian ministries across Canada who are faithfully doing the Lord’s work.

We invite you to pause, listen, and pray with us as we prepare our hearts for the coming of Christ. May these moments of reflection remind you that your ministry matters deeply and that Christ’s light continues to shine through all who serve in His name.

Introduction

Christmas Day

Christ as the centre and light of all our work

John Pellowe, Chief Executive Officer

John closes the series with a Christmas prayer celebrating Christ as the light of the world and the center of all our work. He gives thanks for the ministries shining God’s light across Canada and prays that the presence of Christ will guide and renew every servant leader in the year ahead.

Week #4

Love expressed through generosity, service, and connection

James Metcalf, Chief Operating Officer

James reflects on Love as the quiet force that holds ministries together, the love that gives, serves, and sustains. His prayer calls us to express love not only in words but in action, generosity, and compassion, reminding us that even ordinary tasks can become offerings that honor God.

Week #3

Joy In Serving Others And Seeing God At Work Through People

Nick Lall, Head of Group Benefits & Pension | CTF

Nick shares a prayer centered on Joy, found not in accomplishments but in serving others and witnessing God’s work through people. His reflection encourages all who serve in ministry to rediscover the joy that flows from partnership with Christ and from everyday acts of kindness done in love.

Week #2

Peace in discernment and decision-making

Deina Warren, Director of Legal Affairs

Deina offers a prayer for Peace in decision-making and leadership. She reminds us that true peace is not simply the absence of conflict but the presence of Christ in every choice and challenge. Her prayer invites ministry leaders to rest in God’s sovereignty and to lead with calm discernment.

Week #1

Hope in faithfulness and integrity

Curtis Towns, Head of Finance and Accreditation

Curtis opens the Advent series by reflecting on Hope, a hope rooted in faithfulness, integrity, and quiet perseverance. Drawing from his work in Accreditation, he reminds us that hope often grows in unseen places through the steady work of ministry done in trust and obedience to Christ.
